Simple, sweet and so perfectly paired with any of The Salty Dough Co. pastas - truly!
Serves: 4
INGREDIENTS:
- 3 cups tomato sauce (about 2.5 cans)
- 1 ½ cup water
- 1 ½ tbs sugar
- ⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- ⅓ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp dry oregano
- ½ tsp dry basil or 6-7 fresh leaves
- Few flakes of crushed red pepper (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
- In a medium pot, add oil, tomato sauce and water. Stir on medium heat for a minute
- Stir in remaining ingredients, cover and bring to a gentle boil for 2-3 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low/simmer for about 1 hour. Stir occasionally. Be sure not to let it thicken too much or burn.
